What are the ingredients for Quinoa Daddojanam Recipe

Very few ingredients are need to make Quinoa Daddojanam. If you have quinoa, plain curd and tempering ingredients, recipe is all yours. Even there are few things needed, you must keep them all in reach to make your cooking efficient.

EXACT QUANTITY OF INGREDIENTS EXPLAINED FOR QUINOA DADDOJANAM

Quinoa – 1 Cups

Water – 2 cups

Vegetable Oil – 1 tablespoon

mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon

urad dal or black lentil – 1 teaspoon 

Ginger – 1 inch piece

Green Chillies – 1 or 2

Curry leaves – 2 Tablespoon

Coriander leaves – 2 Tablespoon

Pomegranate Seeds – 2 tablespoon

Milk – 3 tablespoon

Salt – According to taste

You could repeat the same steps if you would want to replace the quinoa with rice.

1.  Take a cup of Quinoa and rinse with water

You must take a bowl and add a cup of Quinoa and rinse with water. Quinoa has a coating which can give a slight bitter taste. In order to remove that you must make sure to rinse the quinoa in water atleast twice.

2. Place the pressure cooker on the stove

Take a pressure cooker and turn on the stove with medium heat

3. Add rinsed quinoa and add two cups of water

You must now add the rinsed quinoa to the cooker. Then add 2 cups of water to get fluffy and non sticky grains.Quinoa has a coating which can give a slight bitter taste. In order to remove that you must make sure to rinse the quinoa in water atleast twice.

4. Close the lid and cook until three whistles in the pressure cooker

You must now close the lid and maintain the heat in medium heat. Leave the quinoa to cook until three whistles in the pressure cooker. If you dont have a pressure cooker, another interesting way is to cook quinoa in microwave.

5. Transfer the cooked quinoa to a large bowl

Once cooked in the pressure cooker, leave for the pressure to be released from the cooker. You must then open the lid and transfer the quinoa to a bowl. Let the quinoa cool on its own.

6. Keep Tadka pan on the stove 

Take a tadka pan and place it on the stove with medium heat.

7. Add oil to the tadka pan with medium heat

You must add one tablespoon of oil to the tadka pain and maintain with the medium heat.Always prepare the tempering for the curd rice on a medium flame. If you keep it at a high flame, the tempering will burn and give your daddojanam a bitter taste. You can use any vegetable oil.

8.  Add mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves

Once the oil is hot enough, add one teaspoon of mustard oil and wait until it splutters. You must then add a teaspoon of urad dal and curry leaves. Taste of the curry leaves is enhanced when it is cooked directly in the oil

9. Add chopped green chillies, ginger and saute well

Take a piece of ginger and finely cut into very small pieces. You can then finely chop green chillies.Now you must add the chopped ginger and green chillies to the tempering and saute well. Ginger and green chillies enhances the flavor of the curd rice.

10. Add the tempering and salt to the cooked Quinoa

Now add the tempering to the bowl of cooked quinoa. Then add salt according to the taste and mix well. Tempering enhances the flavour with each of the tempering ingredients. Please make sure you add every tempering ingredient mentioned here.

11. Add 2 cups of plain curd and 2 tablespoon milk to the cooked quinoa and mix well

You can now add 2 cups of plain curd to the bowl of quinoa and mix well without any lumps. Now add little milk. You must make sure to use fresh curd and also the milk to avoid the curd turning sour.

12. Add finely chopped coriander leaves and mix well

At the end add two tablespoon of finely chopped coriander leaves to the daddojanam and mix well. Coriander leaves imparts an aromatic flavour to the curd rice.

13. Add little water if you want the daddojanam to adjust the consistency

You can add little water to the curd rice to adjust the consistency of the daddojanam. This is optional and it depends on the preference on the consistency of the daddojanam

14. Garnish with pomegranate seeds and serve Quinoa Daddojanam

To make the quina daddojanam complete, you must now garnish with the pomegranate seeds . Serve thes tasty and delicious quinoa daddojanam with pickle or potato fry.  You can also cook quinoa in microwave oven instead of pressure cooker.

Hassle Free Cooking Tips for Quinoa Daddojanam Recipe

Even for the simplest recipes I make sure to follow the key tips to have effortless cooking. You must ensure to follow them to have a lovely kitchen experience

1.  Add right amount of water for fluffy and non sticky quinoa

Always add double the quantity of the water to cook the quinoa. This will help you get soft and fluffy quinoa. Excess water makes it sticky. Some prefer to make it sticky in which case you can add more water.

2  Rinse quinoa to remove bitter taste

Quinoa has a coating which can give a slight bitter taste. In order to remove that you must make sure to rinse the quinoa in water atleast twice. 

3. Use fresh curd for the recipe

Always use fresh curd while making daddojanam or curd recipes. Recipes might turn out sour if the curd is old and not fresh. 

4. Tempering is Important

Tempering the curd rice is very important because it enhances the flavour with each of the tempering ingredients. Please make sure you add every tempering ingredient mentioned here.

5. Maintain Medium Heat while tempering

Always prepare the tempering for the curd rice on a medium flame. If you keep it at a high flame, the tempering will burn and give your daddojanam a bitter taste.

6. Curry leaves enhances flavor

It is important to add the curry leaves as it helps to enhance the taste. But it is always recommended to cooked to oil first and them add it to the rest of the ingredients while cooking. This is the best way to bring out the flavor

Coriander leaves has lot of health benefits as it has lot of nutrients, good for digestion. It also imparts a distinct and refreshing flavor to any dish you cook.

8. Garnishing is important

A delicious food is not complete without garnishing. Usually garnishing is done with the food items with the contrasting taste. Curd rice is often garnished with grapes or pomegranate seeds

9. Milk to avoid curd turning sour

It is very important tip to add bit of milk to the curd rice to avoid curd rice turning sour. You must ensure to add little milk while mixing the curd with cooked quinoa.
